Donald Mathew Baker

It's with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Don Baker on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the age of 78 years.

Many will remember Don as a kind and gentle soul, who always went out of his way to help others and make sure they felt seen and appreciated. His love for helping others was accompanied by a lack of need for recognition, which truly embodies the type of character he was. Among his love for altruism was music, his beloved wife, and his soul dog, Remmie.

Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Mary, and his children, Deena Baker of Keswick, ON and Matt Baker (Katie O'Connell) of Bolsover, ON. He was a cherished grandfather to Aleena and Owen Baker. Don is survived by his siblings Peter, David, and Suzanne, and predeceased by his siblings Dick and Barb.

The family extends a special thank you to Jenna from Bayshore Nursing, whose kindness, empathy, and humor gave him great comfort, and to all of the amazing PSW’s from CBI. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Srour from Southlake Health, for always making time for our family and Don, caring for him as if he were your own loved one, you made a very difficult time much easier. To the York Regional Police and Paramedics, thank you for your service to the community and your dignified assistance on the night of Don’s passing, your kindness and compassion will always be appreciated.
