Robert Monks

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the age of 77. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by love. Dearly loved husband of Judy Monks of Keswick. Treasured father of Robert Monks Jr. (Brooke), and Chrystal (Owen Hill), all of Keswick. Cherished Poppy of Keenan, Alice, Mila, and Violet. Caring son-in-law of Shirley (the late Hubert Prince). Dear brother of Effie Kramer, Ruby Keel, Francis Wheeler, Annie Frost, Florence Monks, Wayne Monks (Crystal), Winston Monks (Sue), brother-in-law Reg Prince (Kathy). Predeceased by his parents Alice and David Monks, stepmom Elsie Monks, his grandparents Daisy and Henry Quinton, his sister Mary Smith, his sister-in-law Rose (the late Brian Coe). Robert will be missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and his many friends in both Ontario and Newfoundland.

Robert will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family, his love for Newfoundland and the joy of fishing, and his quiet strength and generous heart. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and wisdom, deeply loved and forever missed by all whose lives he touched.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Oncology team at Southlake Health, the Pharmacy team at Keswick Walmart, Theresa Petrie, and Karen McMahon for the care and support provided to Robert.

Visitation will be held at the MW Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Christ Church, 12 Turner Street Roches Point, on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place at a later date.

In memory of Robert, donations made to Sick Kids Hospital (burn unit) or Stronach Cancer Centre c/o Southlake Health would be appreciated.
