It is with profound sadness that Steven Leslie Eckhardt of Keswick, Ontario has passed away in the early hours of Sunday, October 19th, 2025 at the age of 66 years old. It was a result of influenza he became sick with in Dublin, Ireland and pneumonia that his immune system could not tolerate due to the cancer.
Steve was born on December 11th, 1958 in Lexington Kentucky, USA. The 4th and youngest son of William & Margaret Eckhardt. He was the brother of William (Bill), Edward & wife Cheryl & Christopher Eckhardt who all predeceased Steve. Wonderful brother- in-law to Harold & Gayle Grossman. Amazing Uncle to Alicia & Bob Nardella, Patrick & Christine Eckhardt & their children, Leslie & Graham Golkin, Paul & Yael Grossman & their children.
The Eckhardt family relocated to Oakville, Ontario from the USA when Steve was 9 years old. He spent many years in Toronto until he moved north of Toronto to enjoy his and Corinne's country home.
He poured his heart into his regional sales management career with Syntax for 29 years. He retired June of 2025. His co-workers became another family to him and he loved every moment of his time there. They loved Steve, as his boss said, he had a ‘special sauce’.
Stevie loved his family of friends. For them he was the gatherer. He was the glue that pulled all together for so many of the events with his boyfriends - Football weekends in Florida, Baseball games in September and so many more.
Steve’s love of sports, especially his Viking football team, was renown. Football Sundays during the season were our weekly food-filled, exciting events.
Steve and Corinne's close Snake Island family loved him beyond words. He enjoyed weekend soirées, being part of the heart felt community and always lending a hand.
Common to all Steve’s bonds were his amazing “Ecky Sandwiches”, the “Ecky Shuffle” and his Caesars. So many expressions that were ‘him’—‘Rats’ is the standout.
He had a family of beautiful dogs, Kayli and Annabella, who know it’s different in their home and miss him dearly.
For Corinne, he was and always will be the precious person and husband she met and loved deeply for 33 years. They were married on October 29, 1997. After all the years together it was only getting better!! "I love you beyond the beyond Ecky!!"
Ultimately, his true joy was making sure his family, friends and his wife were well cared for. He will be greatly missed to all that had the honour of meeting him!!
There is a: REMEMBER STEVE GATHERING on Sunday, November 16th, 2025 from 1 to 4:30 pm with Stevie stories at 2:00pm at Clearwater Farm, 1614 Metro Rd. N., Willow Beach, Ontario L0E 1S0.
